Kenya Hockey Union (KHU) men’s premier league leaders Butali Warriors and second-placed Wazalendo have tricky fixtures lined up for this weekend at the City Park Stadium.

Warriors will host United States International University Africa USIU-A hoping to collect maximum points and therefore cement their lead at the top.

Wazalendo will play Sailors in a match they will be hoping to win otherwise they will surrender the slim chances of catching up with the Champions.

Wazalendo, the Highway Secondary School-based side lost grip of table-topping Butali last Sunday after going down 2-1 to eighth-placed Strathmore University.

Coach Fidelis Kimanzi’s side know too well they cannot afford to lose any more points from the remaining six matches starting with Saturday’s assignment.

The team will be motivated by a 4-3 victory from the first leg of the season.

“We have already played two more matches than Warriors but we are a point behind them on the log. We have to work towards winning all our matches if we are to dethrone the Champions,” said Kimanzi whose side are on 23 points.

Dennis Owoka’ s Warriors are the envy of the top-flight side having gone 10 matches unbeaten, summarized into seven wins and three draws.

“We have to be prepared for each of the remaining fixtures. The boys know teams fighting relegation will be tougher to play against,” said Owoka.
