Wamalwa, MCAs up in arms over food donation

By David Musundi A war of words has erupted between a section of ward representatives from Trans Nzoia county and Kiminini member of parliament Dr.Chris Wamalwa over his statement in parliament accusing Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa, chiefs and ward reps of using food relief donated by the government for campaign purposes. Hospital ward representative led other MCAs in launching an onslaught against the MP and demanded that Dr. Wamalwa apologizes over his hate remarks towards fellow leaders who have devoted their energies in alleviating challenges caused by coronavirus. The MCAs questioned why the MP is against them joining other arms of government in distributing food to vulnerable members of society yet the same food is benefiting those people he is seeking to ask for votes in his quest for the gubernatorial position during the 2022 elections. "This program of food distribution all over the 25 electoral wards of Trans Nzoia county , which targets vulnerable persons among them the disabled has ruffled political feathers in the region with some of the leaders including my MP Dr. Chris Wamalwa and a few of his close confidants complaining that food is being distributed to the politically correct," he said. In his statement issued in the national assembly, Dr. Wamalwa had questioned why Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa was distributing relief food using county assembly representatives who were politically correct and avoiding those from areas perceived as hostile. “We do not want a situation where there will be a confrontation between the MP and the CS who is playing his role well in alleviating hunger among all people of Kenya, Trans nzoia included.Turning his anger on innocent people like chiefs and MCAs is wrong," he said. |
