Murang’a Governor Mwangi Wa Iria is set to roll out a countrywide campaign programme for his State House bid, an official from his Civic Renewal Party (CRP) has said.
This comes as university and college students endorsed his proposal over the weekend.

Patrick Muigai said the students’ endorsement is a big boost and has been received well by the party.
“Political parties are realigning themselves ahead of 2022 and now the over one million students have promised to support our party leader, Governor Wa Iria come the next General Election,” said Muigai.
Muigai said CRP is not just focussing on elections but also supports reforms at the Higher Education Loans Board.
“The governor has a vast experience in both corporate and leadership. He is also the only governor in Mt Kenya region serving a second term and he has earned a huge support from the youth from Central Kenya,” said Muigai.
Youth agenda
The students said over the weekend that the governor’s ideas resonate with the youth agenda.
“All university and college students in the country are backing Governor Wa Iria.
We have seen him support education reforms in Kenya and has helped us to propose a bill to the national assembly on loan repayment structures,” said Haron Gathithia, president of Kenya University Student’s Organisation and the founder of Technical of Vocational Education and Training Students Association.
Gathithia said that Wa Iria’s efforts of supporting youths in their academic endeavours and also empowering them economically, makes him their best bet to succeed Uhuru Kenyatta in the 2022 elections.
Wa Iria on January this year declared his interest to run for presidency through CRP.
