Zayyan Virani and Seline Ahoya are the winners of Tennis Kenya Juniors Challenge Series 3 as the games came to a close yesterday at the Nairobi Club.
Virani beat Brian Nyakundi 6-1/6-4 in the boys Under-12 singles final. The pair has been impressive in the lead up to the tournament with none having dropped a set yet.
In this final however, it was Virani in cruise control especially in the opening set where he only dropped a single game.
The 11-year-old was especially also composed throughout the set with minimal errors on his end. He was to close out the set in under half an hour.
The humble Virani was impressed with his game. I played really well but at the same time I commend my challenger who I think has really improved lately.
Having a court and a coach back home has greatly helped me develop and I am very thankful for that,” he said.
In third place play-off, Edward Mwakio won 7-5/6-3 over Ayush Bhandari.
Meanwhile, in the Girls U-12 singles final, Seline Ahoya beat Nancy Kawira 6-1/7-5 in the mid-morning duel, while in the third place playoffs, Haddasah Msine beat Inaaya Virani 6-3/0-6/10-5.
