With a week remaining before the East African Community Military Games gets underway, with Kenya playing hosts, the country’s emissaries Ulinzi Stars have exuded confidence of performing well.

The team’s head coach Benjamin Nyangweso has termed the tournament, slated for August 13 to August 23, as very timely as it will give them ample exposure ahead of the 2019/2020 SportPesa Premier League

Ulinzi Stars are currently in pre-season and with high targets set for the coming season and Nyangweso believes his players will gain massively from the tournament in terms of fitness and gelling well ahead of the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) campaign.

“The games come at a very good time for us; just when we are preparing for the KPL season and I am happy because it will help us in terms of fitness and getting to improve the coordination between players,” he said.

Ulinzi head to the tournament looking to defend the title and by playing at home, Nyangweso says retaining it will be a top agenda.

“We are playing at home; we have that advantage and we must make use of it. To win this title will be our top target and it will be an additional motivation for us going to the new season,” he added.

The Moi International Sports Center (MISC) Kasarani will be the premier venue for the games.
