Ugly scene as two factions clash over Alice Wahome remarks
Drama unfolded at Kenol town in Murang'a County after supporters of Kandara Member of Parliament (MP) Alice Wahome clashed with a rival group during a press conference.
Wahome supporters had convened a meeting to address the media with intent to defend her over the scathing attacks which have been unleashed on her due to her remarks last week.
Minutes after the group started addressing the media, the rival group stormed in and disrupted the meeting.
The group claimed that Wahome supporters were out to ridicule President Uhuru Kenyatta which to them was unacceptable.
For close to one hour, the two groups engaged each other in verbal exchange in what nearly turned to a fist fight.
Those allied to Wahome led by Laban Thuo said the MP was only speaking her mind and raising issues that the common person cannot address.
"We are angry when we see the MP being attacked because she had done nothing wrong, she just spoke her mind," he said.
He said those bashing Wahome do not have the interests of the people at heart and they are out to please their masters.
He, however, expressed his disappointment over the move by the rival groups which he termed as hired goons to disrupt their meeting.
Alex Mbote, who led the other faction, said they will not allow any meeting organized to support Wahome to be held in Murang'a.
Mbote said Wahome has shown disrespect to the President who is the kingpin of the region.
The drama opens the supremacy battle between team tanga tanga and Kieleweke once again as the two groups have been seeking validation over their affiliation.
"We have given team tanga tanga time to criss cross the county but we are not going to give them space anymore," he said.
