KAMPALA,

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni on Tuesday hailed the Communist Party of China (CPC) for spearheading China's fast economic development.

At a reception hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Uganda to mark the upcoming 70th founding anniversary of the People's Republic of China (PRC), Museveni also noted that China has played a critical role in financing the development of transport and energy infrastructure in Africa, which are key to unlock the continent's economic potential.

He said China, unlike some Western countries, gives unconditional development aid to Africa.

Zheng Zhuqiang, Chinese ambassador to Uganda, said that over the past seven decades, China's remarkable achievements in social economic development and modernization can be attributed to the hard work of the Chinese people under the leadership of the CPC.

At present, the China-Uganda relationship is at an all-time high, he said, noting that the countries have promoted the bilateral relations to a new level of comprehensive cooperative partnership.

The reception was attended by foreign envoys, government officials and representatives of Chinese enterprises.  (Xinhua)
