Ugandan leader mourns death of Burundi president

KAMPALA,
Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni late on Thursday mourned the death of Burundi leader Pierre Nkurunziza.
Museveni in a tweet extended condolences to the people of Burundi over the death of the 55-year-old Nkurunziza who succumbed to a heart attack.
Nkurunziza died of a heart attack in a hospital in the capital Bujumbura on Monday, according to a Burundian government statement issued on Tuesday.
Nkurunziza was elected the president of Burundi in 2005 and was re-elected in 2010 and in 2015.
He was due to hand over power to a new president in August after the country held elections on May 20. (Xinhua)
