Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria has shown his displeasure by a section of Mt Kenya MPs who met in Aberdare’s to drum up for Deputy President in the upcoming 2022 elections.

He says the leaders are wrong in trying to label all other parties in the region as regional, tribal or selfish.

The Chama Cha Kazi party leader says United Democratic Alliance (UDA) is not the only hustlers' vehicle to the presidency in the region.

“UDA is not the only political party in the ‘hustler nation family’. Any other narrative is false, outdated and ill-intentioned,” Kuria's statement on social media read in part.

Kuria further said that the hustler nation cannot be owned by any particular individual because it was started as a mass movement and an idea whose time has come.

The outspoken MP also noted that UDA was perceived to be dominated by incumbent MPs who were hell-bent to lock out their potential challengers out of the upcoming 2022 race.

The Gatundu South lawmaker further said that a party that has only one Member of Parliament and two Members of County Assembly from Kiambu, Nyandarua and Nakuru cannot claim to have bragging rights to brand all other parties as regional or tribal.

“This is the kind of hubris and chest-thumping that destroyed the Jubilee Party, which we formed with so much hope and enthusiasm. It is the clearest attempt to take us to the days of the one-party state and the dark KANU era,” Kuria said.

According to Kuria, he is past the fight for multi-party politics in the streets having fought the fight alongside Mwangi Kiunjuri and Martha Karua, as a young and vibrant student leader at the University of Nairobi.

“I am not as young and vibrant today and I cannot go back to the streets to fight for multi-party politics again. I can only guard what is there,” Kuria said.

Kuria also noted that the price of freedom is vigilance and was willing to work with everyone towards economic revival.

“I look forward to working with like-minded colleagues in the 'hustler nation' movement to realistically uplift the lives of all hustlers,” he added.
