Trans Nzoia residents defend Pukose over accusations

Supporters of Endebes MP Dr. Robert Pukose on Thursday received a major back up from his Trans Nzoia County Jubilee officials who strongly opposed his removal from the National Assembly Energy Committee Vice Chairmanship in a purge within the ruling Jubilee Party which has moved to discipline legislators allied to Deputy President William Ruto.
In moving to support the MP who is among other legislators Moses Kuria, Kimani Ichung’wa, Joyce Korir, and Cornelly Serem against allegations of being disrespectful to the party, Trans Nzoia County party officials led by their Chairman Richard Chesebe told National Assembly Majority Chief whip Emmanuel Wangwe to give the legislators a fair hearing to steer the party to the next level.
Speaking to the People Daily in Kitale, the officials said the MPs who had been given seven days to explain why they should not be removed from their respective committees should not be victimized simply for differing in opinion.
"As for the people of Trans Nzoia and by extension Endebes Constituency, we are comfortable with the pragmatic leadership of Dr. Pukose and we want to say it clearly today Thursday that we will forever be indebted to him as the senior most Sabaot Kingpin for the unrivaled development record," said Chesebe.
They said stripping Dr. Pukose off the energy committee, will not deter him from discharging his mandate as MP of Endebes and told those hell bent to punish supporters of the Deputy President that there will come a time when what they are doing will return to haunt them.
"We demand to be told the real mistakes he has done against the President. Dr. Pukose played a pivotal role in the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta when he traversed this region seeking for votes. I mean is this the best way to reward someone who endured all political challenges to have you re- elected?" quipped Jubilee Nominated MCA Joseph Trikoi Kapchanga.
The party officials said the manner in which Dr. Pukose and other supporters of Deputy President Dr. William Ruto had been earmarked for political crucification was perturbing and asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to reign in on some people in the Jubilee inner circle who were hell bent to promote despondency in the party.
