Trans Nzoia: Medics issue strike notice
By David Musundi
Trade unions of workers allied to all medical cadres in Trans Nzoia county Wednesday issued a strike notice to Governor Patrick Khaemba to pay their members delayed May salaries plus all allowances or face total paralysis at all health facilities in the county.
The unions said they were concerned by the salary delay, resulting in anguish to their members and their families.
In a joint statement, the unions gave Khaemba a five -day ultimatum which lapses on Monday to act on their demand failure to which they will withdraw all their services.
"We are very concerned by the salary delay which has resulted into total anguish to our members and their families. How do you expect health workers taking care of corona virus patients to go on an empty stomach for two months without pay?" Said Willy Sifuna, the Secretary of the Trans Nzoia nurses union.
