Trans Nzoia: Health workers issue strike notice

Leaders of various unions in Trans Nzoia County on Thursday issued a 24 hour ultimatum to the county government to either pay health workers their salaries or have all health facilities in the whole county paralyzed.
The Kenya National Union of Nurses , Union of Clinical Officers and the County Government Workers Union faulted the county for failing to pay them salaries and provide workers in the critical health department with protective gear.

The nurses union Trans Nzoia branch Secretary General Willy Sifuna blamed non medical managers appointed by the county government for the woes facing the health workers in all facilities.
"These managers are forcing health workers to attend to patients with ailments related to coronavirus without personal protective equipment and this is exposing our members to higher risks," Sifuna said.
Sifuna asked all medical personnel to desist from moving closer to any patient with Covid-19 symptoms.
