Trace Live organises groundbreaking online Mugithi extravaganza
Trace Live, a unique, intimate and interactive showcase of Kenyan music, has lined up six Kikuyu music chart-topping hit makers for a live Mugithi concert scheduled for July, 4, 2020.
The music extravaganza, which will be streamed on Trace Live, will bring together iconic artistes such as Samidoh and Joyce wa Mama who collaborated for the infectious call-and-response love ballad Wendo Wi Cama and crossover crooner and guitarist Jose Gatutura who is widely acclaimed for his pervasive Haha Nigute hit.
The live concert is an ensemble of artistes that will also nourish the souls of Kikuyu gospel music fans with record breaking songs such as Muheani by Phyllis Mbuthia and Sammy Irungu, a prolific gospel music hit maker.
Loise Kim, an unrelenting singer renowned for releasing an album every year, will also be in performance.
The watershed hours will be reserved for the iconoclastic and comical Mike Rua, who started learning to strum the guitar at age 10.
“Mugithi music is known to tackle a wide range of subjects including love, money, social commentary and even politics in an ever entertaining fashion,” said Trace Eastern Africa Cluster MD Danny Mucira.
These musical showcases are sponsored by Safaricom, DStv and Showmax. Viewers stand a chance to win themselves lots of giveaways throughout the concert.
Mucira added that the music extravaganza is not only an initiative to support the local creative economy, but also a project to offer lovers of Mugithi music both in Kenya and abroad an immersive entertainment concert during a period of restrictive social interaction due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Samidoh, Mike Rua, Loise Kim, Joice Wa Mama, Phyllis Mbuthia and Jose Gatutura’s music will also be available on Safaricom’s Skiza upon release.
