Suspect in Kiambu family killings shows police murder weapons, more exhibits recovered

The 22-year old suspect in the murder of Kiambu family members Lawrence Warunge has led homicide detectives to the spot where he disposed the murder weapons.

Warunge, the first born of the family and also the prime suspect led the Directorate of Criminal Investigations(DCI) sleuths to Mai Mahiu on Saturday where he disposed the weapons.

A kitchen knife, a pair of scissors and among items were recovered from a pit latrine. Police had to dig from a side of the latrine to fetch the exhibits from the pit. The DCI said.

Simon Lawrence Warunge was arrested on Friday from a hideout in Kabete where he confessed to have committed the the murders. Police arrived at Warunge as the prime suspect after he went missing even after his family members were brutally killed.

Although Warunge confessed to have killed the five alone, police believe he had accomplices. Some residents told police a motorbike and a saloon car had been spotted leaving the home at the evening of the incident.

On Tuesday, residents of Kagongo village in Kiambaa Sub-county woke up to grief after they found the four family members (Husband, wife, two sons) and a farm hand who is their relative murdered.

The cold blood murder left  Nicholas Njoroge, his wife Wanjiku Njoroge, both nurses, their two children and a relative a family farmhand dead.

The body of their farmhand was found in the family's neighbour compound.

The bodies of the nurses were severely butchered with the husbands stomach having been dismembered.

For the last few days, homicide detectives have been working round the clock to stitch pieces of information together and unravel the gruesome crime.
