State House Spokesperson Kanze Dena has finally confirmed that Madaraka Day celebrations will be held at Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium in Momboleo, Kisumu as earlier planned.

"The venue for Madaraka Day is the new Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium, Mamboleo. However, due to the Covid-19 situation in the County and the Country, the number of citizens attending event has been highly reduced and admission to the Stadium will be strictly by invitation card," Kanze said when she appeared on Radio Nam Lolwe on Saturday evening.

Earlier on Saturday, Kanze told journalists in Kisumu that the venue could be changed from the Stadium to State Lodge over Covid-19 fears.

"Due to the spike of Covid-19 cases in Kisumu talks are ongoing and by evening we will communicate the venue and share with all media houses,” she told the press at Kisumu State Lodge.
