Amina hails inter-banks festival won by Equity

Sports Cabinet secretary Amina Mohamed has hailed high standards displayed in the just-concluded 35th edition of the Inter-Banks Games, saying that it’s a manifestation that the country was not short of talent in various disciplines.
Speaking during the closing ceremony at Kenya School of Monetary Studies (KSMS), Mohammed said she was particularly impressed by the good organization and the high level of discipline and performance amongst the participating teams.
“May I take this opportunity to laud teams for a great performance befitting such games and I believe they can only get better with the astute stewardship of Kenya Institute of Bankers (KIB) who are the organizers.
The aim of the event is to bond among banking institutions and moreover, what was witnessed in the final is foolproof that Kenya is a great sporting nation,” said Mohammed.
Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) Governor Patrick Njoroge, who was flanked by his deputy Sheila Mbijjiwe, thanked participants for showing true sportsmanship and fighting spirit.
Others in attendance included the chairman of the Inter-banks Nairobi Local Centre Ezekiel Tanui, KIB Chief Executive Gilbert Alela, and Sports Chairman Kennedy Nzinga among others.
During the finals, Equity Bank celebrated their 35th anniversary in style after being declared the overall winners.
Equity collected 1,075 points as Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) settled for the second spot with 1,071. Barclays Bank completed the last podium finish with 1010 points.
Eco Bank’s Humphrey Muturi put up a gallant show to win the men’s 1,500m Chief Executives run.
