Speaker Muturi finally crowned as Mt Kenya spokesperson
Speaker of the National Assembly Justin Muturi has finally been crowned as the spokesperson for the GEMA community in an event held at
Speaking shortly after his coronation, Muturi said he shall ensure all the people unite for a common purpose.
Muturi said it was such an honour for him to be accorded the role and promising that he shall undertake his mandate diligently.
"I will stand and be the voice of the people from this region and find ways of bridging the rifts which have been there," he said.
" This is one big community and there should be no divisions amongst us," he added.
Muturi also sougt to clarify that him being bestowed as the spokesman does not in anyway contradict the role of president Uhuru Kenyatta who is the kingpin.
"There is no bad blood between the president and me. We have always worked together and we shall continue doing the same," he remarked.
Kung'u Muigai the lead elder preciding over the ceremony said Muturi was picked after thorough vetting of several leaders from the region.
He also downplayed claims that this was a political event but a curtural process to install a king and not a politician.
"We consulted all elders and they agreed on our choice to have the speaker become our mouthpiece," he said.
