Sonko assault case postponed

Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko's assault case failed to take place at Voi Law Courts Wednesday following his absence due to illness.

Through his lawyer George Kithi, Sonko begged for leave to recover from ailment promising to honour summons when he gets better.

Sonko who was caught on camera in Voi, Taita Taveta County resisting arrest by sleuths attacked Assistant Inspector General of the Region Yakubu Rashid before being overpowered and hauled to Nairobi to face Corruption charges.

Counsel Kithi who presented a Doctor's letter to the Courts got a reprieve for his client after the presiding Magistrate was granted an extension of appearance until January 21st next year when the case will be mentioned.

The flashy City boss 44,has apparently been receiving treatment for Hypertension and  soft tissue injury and has had his legal team has been scampering to get him out of custody.

Senior Magistrate Fredrick Mayaka directed that the embattled Governor presents himself at the DCI Headquarters in Voi before appearing in court.

The former Senator of Nairobi is accused alongside others in the original case investigated by Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission of being a part of a conspiracy to defraud the County of Nairobi of millions of Shillings.
