Somalia marks 76th anniversary of police force

MOGADISHU,

Somali Police Force (SPF) is today expected to mark the 76th anniversary of its founding in a ceremonies scheduled to take place in Mogadishu and several other towns in the country.

The law enforcement agency with motto ‘protect and serve’ was established on 20th Decmber 1943 by the colonial master Italy.

SPf was once one of the well organized and strongest in the African continent before the breakout of the civil war in the 1990s

A well-orchestrated ceremony to commemorate its establishment and those died in line of duty is taking place at Somali police transport department in the city.

The celebrations were expected to take place yesterday but technical issue has necessitated to be move to Saturday.

Somali leaders are expected to attend today’s ceremony with Somali police band Heegan already arrived at scene to entertain the guest with patriotic songs during the event.

Somalia’s presidency has congratulated the agency on the 76th anniversary of service. Brave, honorable and dedicated.

“As our Somali Police Force marks 76th anniversary in service delivery & professionalism, we proudly celebrate the input of the female members of the forces led by Deputy Chief Gen Zakia Hussen for impacting change in the image of the forces and raising power of women in Somalia.
