Six-year-old boy disappears as a police chopper crash-lands at their farm in Meru
Villagers and the family of Wilfred Kimathi are looking for their son who disappeared when a police chopper crash-landed at their farm in Ciomburu village, Meru County Saturday morning.
According to the boy's father Wilfred Kimathi, the six-year-old scampered away and they were yet to see him six hours after the incident.
"We are yet to see our six-year-old son, he ran away screaming and we have not seen him, we're looking for him," Wilfred told People Daily.
Mr. Kimathi narrated how he heard a roaring sound like a tractor's and on looking outside he saw a gigantic object approaching his home compound.
He alerted the rest of the family who all scattered in fear. Their boy, however, disappeared and they had not seen him by Saturday midday.
The chopper incident
Five police officers in the chopper sustained injuries after crash-landing at the farm in Meru County.
According to a police report, the five were rescued and rushed to Meru Level five hospital. A sixth officer who was piloting the plane escaped unhurt.
The five were;
- Regional police commander Lydia Ligami.
- Jonah Kirui of the regional office of Directorate of Criminal Investigations.
- National Intelligence Service regional coordinator Gilbert Magut.
- Regional coordinator Isaiah Mukoru.
- Co-pilot police inspector Jacinta Akorot.
The pilot a police inspector Peter Kemboi escaped unhurt.
