Siaya leaders urged to share positions

Three ODM legislators have asked Siaya leaders to embrace consensus in sharing political positions in the region to tame divisions during campaigns.
Senator James Orengo led MPs Samwel Atandi (Alego/Usonga) and Elisha Odhiambo (Gem) in calling for a common ground on 2022 slots’ sharing to tame divisions.
“Every Siaya resident has a right to declare interests in any political positions and we also know that at the end of the day, every seat will be occupied by a son or daughter of the region but it would be good if we embrace consensus to solve the equation,” said Orengo.

Speaking during a funds drive in aid of Siaya Business Sacco at Ahindi gardens, Orengo urged all leaders interested in positions to swallow their pride and be part of consensus fora ahead of 2022.
And separately, Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo warned that jostling for positions among leaders without consensus would be a waste of time.
Speaking at Dond-Koki in Alego/Usonga, he said positions could be negotiated freely through give-and-take, without restrictions from other quarters.
“Siaya is the home of ODM leader Raila Odinga and he will be happy to see leaders from his home tuff organise themselves peacefully and share posts,” said Amollo.
