Deputy President William Ruto has mourned the late nominated Senator Victor Pringei as a distinguished public servant with a firm commitment to the advancement of the minority's cause.

"He was progressive and full of ground-breaking thoughts that transformed the lives of many people," the DP said.

He added: "Our thoughts and prayers are with the family, their loved ones, the Ogieks and our Parliament. Rest In Peace, Mheshimiwa Prengei."

Prengei died on Monday evening after he was involved in a grisly road crash on the Kabarak – Nakuru road.

Nakuru County Police Commander Beatrice Kiraguri confirmed that the Senator was heading towards Kabarak area from Nakuru town when the accident occurred at Gioto area.

He was rushed to Nakuru Level Five Hospital for medical attention where he, unfortunately, succumbed to the accident injuries moments later.

“Rest well my colleague and friend Hon. Victor Prengei, Nominated Senator. We shall forever cherish your tireless efforts in fighting for and protecting the rights of the minority communities in our Nation. We have lost a great leader. My condolences to your family, friends and the entire Ogiek community,” nominated senator Millicent Omanga wrote on her social media handles.
