Ruto has himself to blame for his woes in Jubilee, says Salat

Kanu Secretary General Nick Salat has renewed his political rivalry with Deputy President William Ruto even as the party reaps big from Government appointments following their working agreement with Jubilee.
Salat yesterday claimed Ruto is to blame for the woes he is facing in Jubilee, since he has been engaging in 2022 premature campaigns against the wish of his boss-President Uhuru Kenyatta.
He said Ruto’s criticism of the Handshake between the President and ODM leader Raila Odinga is also ill advised.
“Instead of supporting the President to achieve the Jubilee development agenda, he is busy destroying the achievements of his boss,” noted Salat.
Speaking to People Daily, Salat dismissed claims that Kanu is using the working agreement with Jubilee to have Ruto’s allies ousted out of key State positions.
“Kanu is the only party with a written agreement with Jubilee. In fact, none other than the President himself attended our National Delegates Conference,” said Salat.
Kanu has been reaping big from plum posts in Government following cooperation deal with Jubilee, as the DP’s allies cry foul of being sidelined.
Latest being the appointment of Salat as Agricultural Development Cooperation Board chairperson.
Kanu seems to be taking advantage of the widening rift in Jubilee, which has seen Ruto’s allies stripped of key positions at the Senate and National Assembly.
Salat replaced former Baringo Governor Benjamin Cheboi, a close ally of the DP. Other close allies of the DP who have been stripped of their positions are former Senate Majority Whip Susan Kihika and former National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale.
Also shown the door is Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen who was removed as Senate Majority Leader.
The DP and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi have been embroiled in a protracted battle of supremacy for the control of Rift Valley ahead of 2022.
DP has openly expressed interest to succeed the President in 2022, Gideon, however, has been tight-lipped over his plan.
