Roll out the red carpet for champions in waiting – Tusker FC
With two games left to the end of the 2020/21 Football Kenya Federation Premier League season, log leaders Tusker FC are favourites to clinch the coveted trophy
With this season’s culmination this coming weekend, Tusker are clear favourites set to clinch their 12th league trophy after their contiguous opponents KCB faltered.
Tusker are on 61 points and face Nzoia Sugar away at Mumias Complex Stadium and Bidco United at home in their final two matches.
Second placed KCB, are on 58 points, and host AFC Leopards before finishing their campaign against Nairobi City Stars.
A win for the Robert Matano coached side against Nzoia Sugar will see the Ruaraka-based team win this year’s KPL title, worth KSh 5 million.
On the other end of the KPL table, relegation threatened Mathare United will be hoping their good luck charm will strike against Ulinzi Stars at home as they fight to evade relegation following a defeat at the hands of Bandari over the weekend.
The slum boys had been in perfect form, winning three matches in a row, before loosing out 3-0 to Bandari in Mombasa to rekindle their relegation fear with two matches left for the Frank Ouna coached side.
Mathare are currently placed 15th on the log, one and two points ahead of Vihiga United and Western Stima respectively.
Vihiga United who are also fighting the relegation battle will be playing their last league match against Kakamega Homeboyz in Bukhungu on Wednesday as Western Stima visit Wazito FC at Nakuru’s A.S.K Grounds on the same day.
Western Stima are currently bottom placed with 22 points with two games to go, Vihiga United, second from bottom, have 23 points and one match left, while Mathare United, who are 24 points, also have two games left.
