Residents of Nziu village in Makueni county are anxiously awaiting the ruling of a case in which a man chopped off his cousin’s hand over alleged love triangle.

The case filed last December is before Makueni Law Courts Senior Principal Magistrate J Mwaniki.

The defendant, Ambrose Kimanthi Itume, allegedly confronted his cousin John Mutunga over an alleged affair with the former’s (Kimanthi’s) wife and a scuffle ensued. Mutunga lost his hand in the struggle and sustained more than 10 panga wounds on his back and head.

Speaking to People Daily, the family spokesman Nzioki Mbiuva said: “Never before has such an incident occurred in the area. We thought Itume would go for an out-of-court settlement but he insisted that the matter be settled in court.”

The judgment is set for Thursday.
