Renowned schools fail to impress in exam results

It was all silence at the giant Pangani Girls.

Renowned schools failed to impress in this year’s KCSE exam results as they did not feature in the list of top 10 performers nationally.  

In the list released by CS Magoha, it was expected that giant schools such as Pangani Girls, Maranda School, Precious Blood Riruta, Sunshine School and Strathmore School would be among the top 10. These schools have previously registered good performance nationally.

In last year’s results, Juliet Otieno from Pangani Girls topped in the country with a mean score of 87.664 points.

It was the second year in a row for Pangani to produce the top candidate. This year the school produced one of the top 10 under 16 candidates, Staicy Mugo Nelima, with a mean score of 82.477.

Strathmore School (private) topped nationally in 2018, registering a performance index of 72.28.

Kapsabet Boys, Maryhill School, Maseno School, Nairobi School and Moi Girls Eldoret School made a comeback in the top 10 nationally.

In 2018, Maryhill school recorded a performance index of 63.77 with one A while this year 25 candidates scored an A. Kapsabet Boys had a score of 64.56 last year with 26 As. This year they came second nationally with 49 As.

Last year, Nairobi School had three  As while this year they claimed position eight nationally with 23 As.

Maseno School Kisumu had 10 As in 2018 whereas this year they turned tides with 23 As. Moi Girls Eldoret had 13 As last year but scooped 21 As this year.
