Raila meets Western governors as he solidifies support base ahead of 2022 polls
Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga on Friday met five governors from Western region as he seek to solidify his traditional support base.
The governors present were Wycliffe Oparanya (Kakamega), Sospeter Ojaamong (Busia), Wilber Ottichilo (Vihiga), Patrick Khaemba (Trans Nzoia) and James Ongwae (Kisii).
"Spent part of the afternoon with Governors from Western Kenya discussing how to build a strong partnership for the Azimio la Umoja, our rallying call to national unity in their respective counties. We also touched on recent political developments," Raila said.

This comes a day after Raila met professionals from Meru County on Thursday.
Raila challenged the Meru leaders to look for alternative markets for the ‘miraa’ not just in Somalia but even in Europe.
“Miraa has been a major revenue earner in the past until it was banned in Europe. We need to think outside the box. We must look for alternative markets. We can find areas such as Somaliland. We can also do value addition so that it can be accepted in areas it has been banned,” said Raila.
The former premier said although reforms have been carried out in tea and coffee sectors, more still needs to be done so that farmers can get more returns for their efforts, adding that avocado which have become the new gold can be enhanced.
