Prime suspect in Kisumu woman murder arrested

Police have apprehended one of the brothers suspected to have brutally murdered their father's lover at Dunga area in Kisumu County.
Stanley Nyalwal was arrested on Friday night at a relatives home in Kokwiri village Rarieda Sub county within Siaya County.
Nyalwal, son to Erick Nyalwal is alleged to have attacked and killed 29-year old Mercy Akinyi on Tuesday night in company of his brother who is yet to be arrested.

David Ongoro, Kokwiri Location Assistant Chief said the 21 year old had gone into hidding at his cousins place to avoid being arrested by the police for the offense they had committed.
Ongoro said they got information from a woman related to the suspect who reported the presence of a their wanted cousin in the homestead.
Authorities took their time to ascertain the identity of the suspect before swooping in the dead of night.
"We arrested the suspect at around 8:30 pm after receiving the information," he said.
He spent a night at Aram police station in Rarieda but has been transferred to Kisumu Central Police Station where the incident was reported.
His brother however is still at large.
Police said the deceased who was also three months pregnant had been introduced to the duo by their father as their step mother.
The two are reported to have attacked the deceased and hit her with a log at around 11.00 pm leaving her with deep cuts on her head and neck when she was pronounced dead on arrival at the Kisumu County Hospital for having lost slot of blood.
Their father also was arrested on Wednesday after recording a statement at Central Police Station and will be detained at the station for 14days as police conclude their investigations following a court directives.
