The Pharmacy and Poison's Board (PBB) is probing a miscarriage and seven cases of severe illness that were allegedly caused by the AstraZeneca vaccine.

"There is one miscarriage reported after taking the vaccine but we cannot tell what caused it. We are also investigating seven severe cases of people who allegedly fell severely ill after the vaccine," Pharmacy and Poison's Board Director of Product Evaluation and Registration Prof. Peter Mbwiiri.

Prof. Mbwiri, however, refuted death claims connected with the vaccine.

"Nobody has died, information that one person died after taking the vaccine is misreporting," he told the PD Online.

Kenya received the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine on March 5, as a part of the global COVAX program.

Since rolling out the vaccination exercise, the Health Ministry has administered 325, 592 jabs.

Out of the total vaccinations, 277 adverse effects have been reported across the country, the Ministry said on Tuesday.
