Paolo Dybala set to be handed Juventus arm band after Ronaldo’s exit

Juventus have extended Paulo Dybala’s contract until June 2025, while simultaneously making him the face of the club and their future captain.
Dybala’s current contract is due to expire in 2022, but the forward is ready to sign the new terms which could see him earn £9.4million per year with bonuses included.

According to Tuttosport, Dybala is expected to put pen to paper in August, before the return of the Champions League.
The Argentina international had previously been linked with a switch to the Premier League with the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham touted as possible destinations, but a move never materialised.
Tottenham were in hot pursuit of the Argentina international, who had fallen down the pecking order under Massimiliano Allegri following the arrival of five-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid.
Spurs came closest to landing Dybala as a marquee signing last summer, with the 26-year-old even filming a ‘goodbye’ message to the Juventus fans.
However, Dybala had a change of heart just hours before signing, after becoming inspired by Gonzalo Higuain’s determination to get back into Juventus’ starting XI.
Dybala’s affection for the Italian giants, having joined the club back in 2015 from Palermo, also played a defining role in his decision to stay at the Allianz Stadium.
His decision to remain at Juventus was a big positive for Maurizio Sarri’s side, as he has scored 17 goals and registered 13 assists in 41 competitive games this season.
Dybala has even developed into a centre-forward, becoming one of the best players for Juve this term. -Dailymail
