One person fainted in one of the rallies attended by Deputy President William Ruto in the Coastal region due to hunger.

In an interview conducted at a local station, Ruto said that he witnessed the incident that took place in Ganze town within Kilifi County.

“When I was in Ganze what I witnessed there was not good at all. There was one person who fainted because of hunger,” Ruto said.

The DP said that it is on that effect that he opted to purchase food for the people who live in the region.

Ruto said that he did it out of sympathy given that he was aware that already the National and County governments had food programs, but he had to ensure he carries more.

“I had carried food worth Ksh1.5 million, but when I arrived there the situation was worse, and I was forced to double the meals,” Ruto said.

He regretted that as a Jubilee party they had planned to construct dams, but the agenda failed because of the fall-out between president Uhuru Kenyatta and him.

According to Ruto, the plans they had for the people were hijacked by bad politics as some of the projects that they had promised locals in the Coastal region like the Mwache failed to kick off but will start as soon as next month.

In his sentiments, DP Ruto said that all the projects they had in mind with President Kenyatta would be completed once he assumes office as the Head of State.

A bullish Ruto also said that he was sure that the Coastal region was one of his strongholds and he will easily win the votes.
