Newly signed Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) defence kingpin Dennis Odhiambo is determined to use his vast experience to help the team register positive results in the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) which kicks off on August 31.

The Harambee Stas utility player said he is aware his in-tray is full and has no choice but to try and lead the bankers from the front.

“I’m aware fans will be looking on experienced players like me to inspire the team and the last thing I would do is to disappoint them,” said Odhiambo soon after KCB unveiled new players early this week at KCB Sports Club in Ruaraka.

Odhiambo, whom KCB sourced from Sofapaka, said he is happy to be part of a squad weaved around talented players, adding that they hope to give other teams a run for their money.

“Of course, we do not expect things to be any easy since every team will be in contention for the title but with determination we can do it,” said Odhiambo.

“The players who have been brought on board seem to be hungry for success. Remember, this is football and we have to take each game at time and see what happens next,” he added.

Stephen Waruru, another experienced acquisition by the bankers from Sofapaka, said he has no pressure to deliver, having previously played big-time football.

“Having played for battle-hardened teams like Ulinzi Stars and Sofapaka before, I don’t think there is any pressure to serve KCB FC. We have to work as a team and the rest shall fall in place,” said Waruru, adding that he has no qualms working extra hard at KCB FC in a bid to return to the national team.
