Not interested, Tuju says of push towards seat

Jubilee Party secretary-general Raphael Tuju has turned down requests by residents of Siaya to contest for the gubernatorial seat in 2022.
Tuju said he is more concerned in sourcing funds for projects in Nyanza to get the region at par with areas perceived to be pro-government.
Tuju, who is also a CS without portfolio, told persons pushing him to run for the Siaya gubernatorial seat to instead allow him to continue fighting for a bigger share for projects at the national level.
“Nyanza has faced under-development under previous regimes and we now want the region’s development to increase in the era of the Handshake,” he said.
He made the remarks during the burial of Mama Loice Anyango, widow of freedom fighter Achieng Oneko at Kunya village, Rarieda sub-county, where he called on the residents to shun petty politics and support elected leaders for them to be served effectively.
