Muthama announces entry into Machakos 2022 Governor race
Former Machakos county senator, Johnstone Muthama, has declared his entry into the 2022 Machakos gubernatorial race.
Muthama stated that the county needs transformative leadership and not the theatrics and public relations that it has been subjected to under the current governor, Alfred Mutua.
"Machakos people deserve transformative leadership. The theatrics & Public Relations we've experienced should be replaced with service delivery thro' an efficient responsive system that my Government will put in place.
I'll be sharing my detailed & concrete economic blueprint that will revolutionise Machakos County using my broad knowledge and experience in local, international business & leadership. Let's walk together on this journey," he said.
Muthama, who took a break from politics in 2017, makes a comeback to active politics having decamped from Kalonzo's Wiper Party to Ruto's UDA party, which he serves as the chairman.
The ex-lawmaker claims that a certain cabal eyeing the Machakos gubernatorial seat are hell bent on continuing what he terams as the theft and plunder of public resources by the current regime.
"Beware of some of the current leaders eyeing Machakos Gubernatorial seat. Some of them want to continue with the theft & plunder of our resources which was started by the Current Governor by rewarding cronyism at the expense of the poor," he added.
The flamboyant politician stated that he will use his earnings as a governor to uplift the lowly-placed persons in the county, as he has lways done with his salaries when he held different elective posts.
"I'm a businessman and I don't plunder public resources. Instead, even when I was an elected leader drawing a salary from exchequer, I've always depended on my private income for my personal needs. I'm used to using my Govt salary to help the underprivileged & I intend to continue with this tradition," he stated.
