Ken Okoth’s widow Monica (centre) arrives for the memorial service flanked by her brothers-in-law Bobby (right) and Imran.

“Being Ken’s wife was the greatest honour of my life. He was the most intelligent, passionate, eloquent, most wonderful person I have ever met,” Monica Lavender eulogised her husband yesterday.

Monica said he met the late Kibra MP Ken Okoth 10 years ago at the university in the United States and much as they have been to so many adventures and places together, his heart was always in Kibra and was so proud of it.

She said Okoth would have got a job anywhere with his education but he wanted to be in Kibra ‘his favourite place in the world’.

“I want to thank the people of Kibra, you elected him twice and welcomed me into your families and homes.

I have learnt so much from different cultures, tribe, worship and food, different everything…it has been absolutely wonderful, you have been just amazing” she said at a memorial service for the legislator at Moi Girls in Kibra.

“I am going to do my part as best as possible to help. I want to thank all the people who have helped us through this difficult time including Raila Odinga, his family, all other MPs and Senators, they have been really wonderful,” she said. The lawmaker succumbed to cancer on July 26 aged 41.
