Mombasa County has registered its football association in line with Sports Act 2013 that demands all counties become branches of Football Kenya Federation.

FKF Mombasa sub-branch chairman Goshi Juma has confirmed that the newly formed Mombasa County Football Association, formerly FKF Mombasa sub-branch, will conduct its elections within 90 days as ordered by the Sports Registrar.

A letter dated May 27, 2020, signed by Sports Registrar Rose Wasike indicates that Mombasa County Football Association has been registered as a county sports association under section 47 of the Sports Act 2013.

The Sports Registrar also ordered the association, which is affiliated to Football Kenya Federation, Cecafa, Caf and Fifa, to conduct its elections within 90 days, and to review its Constitution in line with the Kenyan Constitution 2010, the Sports Act No. 25 of 2013 and its international statute.

The registrar demanded that the new body develops short and mid-term plans and all relevant documents for the organisation and officials within three months from the date of registration.

Juma said the association will conduct its election on August 15, 2020, adding that plans are underway to ensure all the guidelines to fight Covid-19 are put in place before and during the elections.
