Mentally ill girl fights for her life after sexual assault by grandfather
A mentally challenged girl from Luanda sub-county, Vihiga, is fighting for her life after she was defiled on Monday.
The suspect, her 90-year-old grandfather, is said to have been taking advantage of the minor's mental illness to assault her.
A medical report from Emuhaya Hospital where the girl was taken for screening and treatment indicated she had been sexually assaulted.
The victim's mother said the defilement occurred on Monday after the nonagenarian, name withheld, lured the girl with Sh20.
Luanda OCPD Johness Ndolo said police are pursuing the suspect, who is still at large.
“The case has been reported and were are pursuing the culprit. Defilement cases have been on the rise and police are working around the clock to ensure the culprits are brought to book,” he said.
