Are matatu crews being used to launder fake money?

There are reports that conductors of two notorious saccos use fake money to give back change for Sh1,000 and Sh500 bank notes on the routes they ply.

As a result, many commuters have lost their hard-earned cash and ended with fake money, which can also land them in trouble.

The trick used by the conductors is to keep the commuter waiting for the change until the end of the journey when they do not have the time to check the authenticity of the notes that they have been given.
