Narc-Kenya party leader Martha Karua is today, Saturday 23, hosting three presidential candidates in Kirinyaga County.

She will be meeting National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi, Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana, and Dr. Mukhisa Kituyi at Starwood Hotel Kerugoya.

The four leaders are expected to have coalition talks ahead of the 2022 elections. They are also expected to sign a pre-election agreement.

Sources have told People Daily Digital that Karua who is the spokesperson of the Mount Kenya Unity forum is positioning herself for the deputy president slot in the coalition.

The invite seen by People Daily Digital says that they will also discuss the unity of Mount Kenya and Kenya in general.

The meeting comes barely a month after Mukhisa, Muturi, and Kibwana unveiled a political movement dubbed Muungano Wa Wazalendo. The leaders were hosted by Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana.

The Kirinyaga meeting comes at a time when Karua is facing criticism from The New Democratic (TND) who have accused her of not concentrating on the unity of the Mt. Kenya region.

The TND national chair Thuo Mathenge claims that Karua is no longer concentrating on the unit in the Mt. Kenya region and has been sending mixed signals towards Mt Kenya Unity Forum.

Thuo who said that his party has withdrawn from the forum also claimed that there is a group of leaders within the forum that are only interested in their selfish gains.

“TND party is no longer party of Mount Kenya Unity forum, we left a long time ago after realizing the group is lacking direction as some party leaders had self-interests,” Thuo said.
