The Mandera County Government is in process of recruiting village administrators once the Administration Act is passed by the County Assembly, an official has said.

The county chief officer in-charge of devolved units, inspectorate and enforcement services, Yussuf Didow said this will help in further decentralising services at the grassroots and bringing services closer to the people.

The constitution and the County Government Act No.17 of 2012, calls for establishment of the office of Sub-county and Ward  administrators who shall be responsible for coordination, management and supervision of the general administrative functions.

Mr Didow who is a lawyer by profession while on an eight days routine staff and project supervision across several wards in the county said the Governor Ali Roba administration was  keen on taking services closer to the people.

"The backbone of a working system is it's people hence the objective of the routine staff supervision was to  check on staff performance and ensure global standards of service delivery across the seven sub-counties inline with H.E Govenor Ali Roba's manifesto," Mr Didow said.

The Chief Officer also met with the Deputy County Commissioners at various sub counties to discuss co-operation between National and County Government. He encouraged the county officials to assist, support, consult and liaise with the national government for the purpose of exchanging information, coordinating policies and administration.

The Chief Officer encouraged the Sanitation department team and Enforcement officers at the grassroots to work together in ensuring compliance with the constitution which states: "Every person has the right to a clean and healthy environment."

The Chief Officer was accompanied by Ag Deputy Director Devolved Units.

According to the constitution, the sub-county administrator shall be responsible for the coordination,

management and supervision of the general administrative functions in the sub-

county unit, including the development of policies and plans; service delivery; developmental activities to empower the community and the provision and maintenance of infrastructure and facilities of public services.
