Masika brothers, Ayub Timbe and Musa are set reignite a taste of sibling flavour in the national football team Harambee Stars.

The two forwards are eager to join the league of Mulamas, Ongaos (Musa Otieno and Eric Omondi) Oliechs and Wanyamas who have featured for Harambee Stars.

With Masika junior 19, having shown immense potential to feature for the senior in the near future, it is just a matter of time for both of them to share the same field with the colours of the land.

Many football lovers in the country have seen the lanky Wazito winger as the future of Kenyan football with his trickery skills while trading for his club and national junior teams.

The young prodigy trained with Harambee Stars AFCON team in May under the tutelage of former coach Sebastian Migne who expressed his satisfaction though the young lad did not make to the final team for the continental showpiece in Egypt. He received another senior call up for Harambee Stars’ CHAN qualifier squad but sat out in the two-legged games against Tanzania due to injury.

Masika, now representing Kenya at the CECAFA U20 tourney in Gulu Uganda, is set to join Belgium’s Club Lierse in January, a move that could catapult his ultimate dream of playing for the senior team under coach Francis Kimanzi.

Elder brother Ayub, 27 has more than 15 caps for Kenya since making his debut in 2012 against South Africa.

According to Timbe, the speedy and energetic Masika has been hard working in and out of the field and is destined for greatness.

Simeon and Titus Mulama brothers were a darling to watch in their heydays, then came Oliech brothers of Dennis ‘The Menace’, Kevin Opiyo and Andrew ‘Apache’ Oyombe.

The most recent siblings in the team have been the Wanyama brothers (captain Victor and his elder brother McDonald Mariga).

With Mariga announcing his retirement from international football, Masika brothers are closer to bringing back the kinfolk flavour at Harambee Stars.

The next assignments for coach Kimanzi are two warm up matches against Libya and Mozambique in October before the start of 2021 AFCON qualifiers in November, with Kenya playing away to record champions Egypt.
