Politician struggles for relevance after BBI

A leading opposition politician was at the weekend struggling for relevance after the launch of the BBI report by President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM Leader Raila Odinga (pictured) caught him off-guard.

The politician, who has always maintained his space on the balance and caution, was not able to convince his support base about his stand on the issue that has divided the county’s political realm.

The politician is said to have been angry that he was not included in the organisation of the release of the documents in Kisii last week.

Panic grips team after bribery revelations

Panic has gripped a parliamentary committee following revelations its members were bribed to give a Chinese-owned real estate company a clean bill of health.

Some members are said to be up in arms following revelations that the Chinese firm parted with millions of shillings to colleagues to influence the report.

The money is said to have been given to an aide of the committee chair at the parking bay of a city hotel on or around May 3, 2018.

The chair, who was expected to share the loot with colleagues, pocketed the entire amount. Watch this space…

Failed robbery attempt shocks security system

A failed armed robbery attempt in an affluent neighbourhood has shocked the country’s security system to its core.

The attempt along highly protected Limuru Road is said to have sent the top echelons of the police and investigations into a mode they have not been in for a long time.

In the Thursday evening incident, three youths in a small car are said to have stopped a few meters after Sixth Parklands Avenue and stopped an approaching car, belonging to a businessman of Asian origin before they were startled, and drove off.

Parading Gor players irks other footballers

The introduction of players from Gor Mahia during a visit by President Uhuru Kenyatta to Kisumu last weekend unsettled other players from the region.

The players, who included some of the most celebrated of their era, attended the function at the Kenyatta Sports Ground.

However, it has emerged that other players who honed their playing skills in the town and went ahead to play for other clubs including Kenya Breweries, AFC Leopards, Kisumu Posta and Motcom felt isolated.
