Kitui: Speaker sued over delay to convene Assembly

Kitui County Assembly Speaker George Ndotto has been sued for failing to convene emergency sitting of the county Assembly in order for the members to vet and approve the names of nominees of the County Public Service Board.
In application filed by Kitui County Government through its secretary, lawyer Leonard Mbuvi at the Employment and Labour Relations Court in Nairobi, the county urgently needs to employ more medical personnel to identify and set aside isolation and treatment facilities within the county for COVID-19 patients.

"Speaker has failed to call emergency sitting of the members to approve the nominees for position of chairperson and of the County Public Service Board members," Mbuvi said.
Justice J. Makau has certified the application as urgent and directed to be heard on a notice.
