Kiambu Kanu officials yesterday threw their weight behind Baringo Senator Gideon Moi, whom they want to succeed Uhuru Kenyatta as the President.
The officials affirmed their support for the lawmaker, saying they would embark on an intensified campaign to popularise him as the Kanu 2022 presidential candidate.

They said they would kickoff the campaigns in Central Kenya before traversing other parts of the country to lay the ground for him to take over the presidency from Uhuru.
Addressing a press conference at the Kiambu Kanu office, the officials, led by newly installed county party chairman George Wainaina, also welcomed President Uhuru’s picking of Gideon to represent the Government at the inauguration of recently-elected Malawi leader Lazarus Chakwera.
“The President’s gesture was a big honour not only to the Senator, but also to Kanu and its supporters countrywide.
It is also an affirmation of our party’s co-operation agenda with the Jubilee Party,” Wainaina said
Earlier, the county Kanu office held abrupt elections in what appeared like a coup, and replaced former office Wainaina as chair, his Vice-Chairman Njung’e Mukirai, Secretary Kariuki Kibathi and Organising Secretary Dr Juliet Kimemia, among others.
