Kenya earns a lifeline in Deaflympics Championships after Somaliland lose

Kenya have sensationally made their way back to the qualifications bracket as best losers following Gabon’s 3-2 win over Somaliland yesterday afternoon in the ongoing Africa Deaflympics Ball Games Qualifiers at Nyayo Stadium.
Kenya now has a better goal difference compared to Somaliland, despite losing both group matches having con- ceded seven compared to 13 goals con- ceded by the Horn of Africa side.
In the match, Gabon had their goals from Nso Nzeng Djessy, Moussa Onan-ga and Ibrahim Adjagbe while Somalil- and had their brace through captain Ahmed Siyad in brilliant fashion.
On paper the match looked balanced with Somaliland making up for their lack of stamina by flying wing attacks through Yassin Ahmed and Mustafa Ellahi. Gabon on their part were much improved on the ball especially after the disappointing loss to the Pharaohs on Tuesday.
Players like Lepanda Boum- dama and Leon Tiba Eyene were instrumental in ensuring that the opponents had a difficult time defending.
Gabon are now also clear to the Quarters after their first match 12-1 loss to Egypt on Tuesday.
Meanwhile the earlier scheduled match between Cameroon and Nigeria, the former was awarded a walkover with latter missing out following quarantine measures.
Nigeria who arrived at the weekend had to go in isolation for 14 days following two positive cases after mandatory tests when the country arrived.
