Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exam candidates will pick university courses of their choice before they sit their examination, due in a week’s time.

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement (KUCCPS) chief executive John Muraguri said selection of courses will take place in schools, adding that it ensures students don’t miss out on government sponsorship.

Muraguri urged headteachers and students to carry out the exercise in good time, saying some students miss out on sponsorships because of failure to submit applications to universities and colleges in time.

“This is a vital exercise, more so now that the government is sponsoring tertiary education at all levels,” he said.

In a letter to Education Principal secretary Belio Kipsang, Muraguri says principals must submit students’ applications by December 31.

Applicants will be given a chance to revise their choices after the release of  KCSE exam results.
