Kamworor, Kipchoge Olympics battle on the cards?

Newly-crowned New York City Marathon champion Geoffrey Kamworor is considering facing world record holder and Olympic champion Eliud Kipchoge in the 2020 Tokyo Games.
While the decision has not been finalised, Kamworor, who has never competed against his best friend and training partner, says Tokyo might provide the opportunity of the king versus the heir apparent.
The two runners are under Kaptagat-based Global Sports Communication camp and pride themselves for holding the world record in both half and full marathon.

Kipchoge ran a record 2:01:39 in Berlin last year, while Kamworor shattered the half marathon mark in Copenhagen, Denmark in September when he clocked 58.01.
“I could not have asked for a better friend and training partner,” said Kamworor. “You have to be flattered when a person of Kipchoge’s caliber holds you in high esteem,” he added.
Kipchoge recently said Kamworor, the 2015 and 2017 world cross-country champion is the man to beat his world record.
“Absolutely! He is the man and everything is possible if we continue to embrace a great planning, preparation, camaraderie, management and coaches,” Kipchoge told a local daily in regards to Kamworor’s prospects.
While they have known each other for 15 years and trained together for 10, the two are yet to compete against each other, something Kamworor feels will happen.
“I might want to have a go on the track in Tokyo since I still don’t have an Olympics medal. But truth is if I was to be presented with an opportunity, I will not turn it down to competitively team up with the greatest marathoner of all time,” said Kamworor.
