AFC Leopards captain Robinson Kamura has called upon other leaders to come and support the club just days after the team received Sh633,000 from former patron and Amani Party Leader Musalia Mudavadi to clear premium rates on the piece of land they were offered by former President the late Daniel arap Moi.

Speaking to People Sport on phone at the weekend, Kamura revealed that it was the right move for the club as they embark on the journey to putting up a stadium and congratulated Mudavadi for the good gesture.

“Leopards is a national club with a great history in Kenya and beyond hence the need to be supported.

It is only through this kind of goodwill that we will attract big names to the club,” said Kamura.

He added: “At the moment, I am so grateful to the club’s management, fans and local leaders for their efforts towards making Leopards a big team through the establishment of the right structures for self-sustainability.”

The former Mathare United player is praying that Leopards will be able to put up a stadium and also start winning titles as he aims at joining a long list of club legends.

Kamura feels Ingwe have not been doing well lately because things were not done the right way and if this change, the playing unit will be highly-motivated to do give their best.

He is, however, optimistic that the club will soon return to their brilliant best given the management and technical bench have put in a lot.

“Our loyal fans should remain hopeful and patient as the club is destined to return to the good days.

We are forging forward and are focused on bringing back the smiles to our fans who have suffered for a long time,” he added.

The move by Mudavadi to support Leopards has also attracted praise from club legends who have called on other leaders from western Kenya to emulate him.

Led by former Kenyan international Reginald Asibwa, they urged the players to reciprocate the good gesture by sacrificing for the club and give good results.

As a way of raising funds for the club and make it self-sustainable, the team is expected to launch labeled bottled water soon.
