Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro yesterday apologised to the Catholic Church over the recent altercation involving him and Nominated MP Maina Kamanda at a church in Murang’a county.

Saying the incident was regrettable, Nyoro promised such an ugly incident would not happen in the area  again.

“I take this opportunity to apologise to the Catholic Church for involvement in that ugly incident and I regret what happened.

I would not wish such a thing to ever happen again not only in Kiharu, but across the country,” he said at ACK St Mark Igwe Church in Murang’a county.

The MP, who is allied to the Tanga Tanga wing of Jubilee party, said he never intended to disrupt the church event.

On September 8, the two legislators quarrelled publicly at Gitui Catholic Church over who should lead the proceedings at the function.

The row culminated in Nyoro’s arrest the following day.“This matter has given me sleepless nights,” said Nyoro, adding that  he was also apologising on behalf of other politicians.

Yesterday, Kamanda, was at the AIPCA Church in Nanyuki, Laikipia County, where alleged plans by a group of youth said to be allied to Woman Rep Catherine Waruguru to disrupt the function failed.

Waruguru and the youth arrived at the church just when Kamanda was leaving.
