Governor gives locals loans to ‘clean’ loot

As the CBK deadline for the phaseout of old Sh1,000 approaches, a governor from Mt Kenya has embarked on an aggressive campaign of offering loans to his constituents.
Keen not to raise eyebrows on the source of the cash, the man has avoided exchanging the notes in the bank.
In the last two weeks, Street Talk has learnt that the governor is indiscriminately lending cash to women and youth groups in the county with favourable terms on condition that they don’t disclose the source of the loans.
